Release Notes

The Castle of Blackwater team is attentive to your feedback. We will continue to release patches to enhance your experience within the Castle. An overview of all new updates and bug fixes in the list below.

Howdy villagers of Blackwater! Here is a quick little update with some bug fixes and improvements!

Castle of Blackwater Patch Notes | 2.1.16

Whats New:

  • Added a Featured Set to the spinning wheel
  • Added a new menu button for the tutorial on the home screen

Fixes and Improvements:

• Fixed glitch where dead souls couldn’t always be picked up

• Resolved occasional issues with the Sheriff’s ability

• Corrected lighting problems in the courtyard

• Fixed bug where players appeared dead during teleport animation

• Fixed visibility glitch near the forge

• Fixed bug related to task execution states

• Dead bodies can no longer be seen through walls

• Resolved Dragon Slayer minigame item issue in the castle

• Fixed various tooltips that wouldn’t close properly

• Corrected tooltip positioning for the Dead Ghost in the bottom left

• Fixed the non-responsive three-dot menu on the home screen

• Improved button sound effects on the home screen

• Miscellaneous small network stability improvements

Make sure to update to version 2.1.16 to see the latest changes.

Werewolf Win Condition Update

The Werewolf can now trigger multiple possible win outcomes:

Scenario 1: The Werewolf wins with the Satanic faction if they kill the last Protector when this is the final objective.

Scenario 2: The Werewolf wins with the Protector faction if they complete the final task and earn enough XP to reach the required threshold.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

• Fixed a sound bug with the Dragon in the waiting lobby.
• Added new button animations for the Daily Reward and Wheel of Fortune.
• Fixed an issue where the Golden Rose’s audio and color remained after changing tasks.
• Moved the percentage icon on the Wheel of Fortune for improved clarity.
• Fixed a minor bug where the active ability button stopped working after completing a task.

The Mythical Cosmetic has been added to the accounts of all players who purchased and played Castle of Blackwater.

Castle of Blackwater Patch Notes l Version 2.1.4

Hey Villager in Blackwater Town! Our latest update brings quality-of-life features, visual improvements, and important bug fixes to enhance your experience in the Castle. Here’s what’s new:

New Features

Spinning Wheel: Try your luck and win exciting rewards for just 5 glyphs per spin! :Glyph:
• Daily Rewards: Log in and claim daily rewards!
Loading Optimization: Improved loading speeds and smoother rematching performance

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issues affecting voting, timers, and side forcefields on light surfaces.
  • Resolved minor issue: soft blocks in the tutorial and improved task tracking.
  • The werewolf name disappearing issue has been addressed with a temporary tracking fix.

Visual & Gameplay Enhancements

  • Updated safe zone visuals and colliders near teleporters and the upper bookshelf.
  • Improved lighting across various areas for better clarity and immersion.
  • Fixed visual bugs related to the psychic barrier.
  • Tweaked teleporter visuals and animations for consistency.
  • Enhanced map colliders and fine-tuned global lighting values.

Work In Progress

We’re still working on:

  • Preparing the mythical cosmetic for all players who purchased the game.
  • Introducing an Exclusive Mythical Wheel of Fortune Set.

We’re trying to get this in by next week and trust me it will be worth the wait!

Castle of Blackwater Patch Notes l Version 2.0.10

Some important bug fixes and small visual improvements have been made. Make sure to update the game to the new version!

Improvements:

  • Enhanced rematch logic for better stability and performance.
  • Updated UI elements in the Safe Zone with new ghost souls cost features.
  • Improved lobby visuals and lighting, including new sprites and adjustments to the grid layout.
  • New UI elements for the Safe Zone and Night Popup.
  • Various prefabs and textures across the game, enhancing visual fidelity and gameplay experience.

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved issues with counting total votes in the voting system (e.g. the 1v1 case)
    Fixed the Knight Shield Ability
  • Addressed music playback issues when transitioning between floors in the Safe Zone.
  • Corrected hitbox sizes for clickable abilities to prevent unintended interactions.
  • Fixed the permanent record issue and adjusted colliders in the Safe Zone.
  • Resolved mini-map bugs during teleportation and ensured accurate floor settings.

RELEASE NOTES CASTLE OF BLACKWATER 2.0.1

Thanks so much for your patience, we know it’s been a while since the last update, but we’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this one to life. First off, a huge shoutout to everyone who shared their feedback. Your voices have been absolutely instrumental in shaping Castle of Blackwater, and we truly wouldn’t be here without you. Also a big shout out to our dev team for working those long night hours to make this happen! Now, we’re beyond excited for you to dive into this update. It’s packed with long-awaited improvements… and yes, it looks absolutely stunning.

Map & Environment Overhaul

• New dynamic and interactive lighting system added in the waiting lobby, castle and safe zone.,

• Castle map has been resized for better player interaction and fewer dead zones.,

• Safe zone reduced in size and redesigned for clearer movement flow.,

• Door teleporters have been replaced with magical mirrors for a more immersive fantasy feel.,

• Some task locations have been rearranged to improve gameplay flow and balance.,

• Dragon lobby interaction: In the waiting area, you can now toss meat to the dragon to avoid getting scorched. Feed it or face the flames!,

Map & Environment Overhaul

• Forgotten faction can now win independently of other factions.,

• Forgotten players (like the Werewolf) are now true solo roles. They can no longer “collude” easily with other factions for shared victories.,

• Werewolf role made slightly harder, but more rewarding as a solo winner.,

Safe Zone Mechanics Update

• New cost mechanic introduced for entering the safe zone. First night is free, increases with 1 soul per night.,

• Encourages risk-taking and castle exploration at night.,

• Aims to balance safe zone vs. castle dynamics for all factions.,

Clarity & Visual Improvements Improved visual clarity of abilities for better in-game understanding. Reworked animations for the Vigilante, Knight and Mentalist. Easier to see when and how abilities are used. Focus on making gameplay more intuitive without relying solely on tutorials.

Character Ability Reworks

Lumberjack’s Active Ability

• Instantly could complete any active task every cycle. (often used for self-confirmation at start game),

New Ability: Collect bonus XP by completing tasks. Once per game, can claim saved XP. The longer he waits, the higher the reward but riskier.,

Record Keeper Active Ability Rework:

• Can no longer share free speech (used for easy self-confirmation).,

• Now visually shares suspicion about one player’s faction.,

Passive Ability Rework:

• Now shares a copy of the Challenger Log, increasing the importance of accurate record-keeping.,

Performance & Stability Major improvements

• Game stability,

• Visual polish,

• Core balance tweaks for smoother overall gameplay,
